Proof You Don't Need Steps To Go Fast
 

let me start off by saying that I own a stepped bottom boat, and I certainly don't want to start a bash session against any brand. I find it very interesting that Velocity just upped their own Factory 1 speed record by over 4 1/2 mph, and they did it in Reggie's backyard. It seems that there are viable alternatives to steps, and if you have ever ridden in a Velocity, you would be hard pressed to argue that there's a better handling V-bottom boat.

the velocity guys did a fantastic job. but.....they could not beat the SBI factory 1 kilo record of extreme racing (a fountain). Not taking anything away from the velocity guys because they put on a hell of a show. watching it from the beach it almost looked like they had the mentality of nothing was going to stop them..... I really think that boat has more left in it...it was porposing badly and they still set the APBA record. Congradulations Team Velocity!!!

When they added the 200lbs to be SBI legal, it caused the bouncing.
