Just Got A New 15,000 Gvw Trailer For My Cig. The Trailer Was Missing Some Thinks That The Rep Said Would Come With The Trailer But The Big Problem Is The Brakes Lock Up When I Try To Back The Thing Up. Hook up the 6th wire (green I think) to your back up lights. It should have a back-up solenoid that relieves the pressure when you put put the rig in reverse.

Do you have drum or disk brakes? With the drum brakes, I had a place on the tongue where I could put a bar through it so the brakes would not go on. On my last trailer, it had disk and had a 12v line on the tongue that hooked to my truck back up lights and it closed a solonoid which ristricted the brake fluid when in reverse. Not sure which setup you have. Some drums are also auto backing.

The center on my truck is the backup 12v line. If you follow the center back a foot or so on the tongue of the trailer, that's where my solonoid was located. It's a 3" long 1" round device with a wire going to it and has the brake fluid line running right through it. The trick with these is that when you go into reverse, you have to make sure the brakes of the trailer are not on or engaged. If the brakes are on when you go into reverse, the solonoid will hold the brakes on. I actually hooked a toggle switch up to this 12v line which I located in my cab. That way, I could turn the solonoid on whenever I wanted or knew the brakes were not engaged, just worked easier than using the backup lights on the truck.

Yep, you need to power up your reverse solenoid if you have one. Look for a blue wire. Most I have seen are with a blue wire, but it could be anything. You then need to find which lead on your truck powers up with your reverse lights. Mate these two together, and you are all set.
