[QUOTE=Formula Outlaw]Gonna go get a generator today. Had a tropical storm go through two years ago and lost power for three and a half days. [QUOTE]

We were hit by Isabel last September and were without power for a couple of days. I bought a generator earlier this year just in case. With my luck I'll never need it. But here's a tip....buy extra gas. If power outgages are widespread then the gas stations will be closed.

My parents are in Bradenton area hope it doesn't flood.

Wife asked If power is out, what'll we do for gas?
Told her to fill up today, I'll do same, and if power is out there's 45 gallons in the boat we can use. That'll hold us for a week or so.

Just got word that schools in 4 counties will be closed tomorrow and I received an e-mail stating that my company will be closed too, with pay.
I'm leaving work in about an hour for a doctor appointment so my weekend starts early.

Not good
Just added 900'sq' to the house...time to see how well I tied the roof on! We have been lucky for the last +- 80 years, sooner or later our luck is gonna change. This may be the one we have been talking about.
Just sold the boat & one less headache to be concerned over. Have a generator, however it does not run
Be safe everyone

Emergency Alert System just said that the St. Pete/Tampa Area is under a mandatory evacuation. All bridges will close tonight.

My work is closed tomorrow, schools are cancelled, kids are being bussed home.

This is looking worse and worse by the hour. I'm only about 50 miles north of Charlotte Harbor which by Nick's plotting is ground zero. At least being on the north side of the storm, the tide surge won't be so bad as it would be on the south side of the storm. No matter what, Friday is gonna be a bad bad weather day.
my daughter just moved into a brand new home a block in from the water in "old" punta gorda . i aint happy !!!!

"Risenshine" at the moment I think your daughter will fare pretty well. As it's going, she's far enough south to be out of the worst of it.

HOWEVER: I just heard on the news at 1:45 this afternoon, that Tampa Bay could see a ten to FIFTEEN ft. tide surge. That means a whole lotta dry stored boats are going to be damaged and or floating around. This is very very serious.

Best of Luck to all of us, we are going to need it this time around I'm afraid.

Nick: be sure to take care of your hat.

Everyone be safe.
