Re: My namesake (and avitar) is no longer with us....
Very sorry for your lose.
Dogs become a member of the family and it is really hard when you loose a family member.
I have a Golden that will be 14 years old September 1st and I know his time with us is coming to an end.
We lost a black cocker a couple of years ago that was also hit by a car. We have a picture of him on the fridge, and his collar and tags are hanging on a book case so we think about him daily.
Take care

Man I feel for ya...
One of mine lays across my feet everyday when I check the board ( she's there right now... I had to pet her up a little when I read this.)
It's the older one I'm really worried about, Border Collie mix - he's 9 and has been through so much with me - He loves the boat and the water, he went through the divorce with me (she could have the house and kid, I just wanted my boat and my dog!), he's moved 9 times (I live in Kentucky now too) and 4 different states with me, I am really dreading the day his time comes.
Terribly sorry to hear you lost him.
I know when mine goes I wouldn't change everything I use his name for - passwords and such, - don't change the AV.
I'm not sure about the collar/tags/leash - maybe passing some of that on would be a good thing.

Gettin choked up just reading. Sorry about your loss. I lost a seven year old shephard 7 years ago from a rare disease and then lost the one I got after him two and a half years later from epilepsy. Current dog is 3 and so far so good. No matter what anybody says you never get over it. It does get a little easier as time goes by. This made me riminisce and cry just typing. Keep the collar, I have two of them and some assorted toys which will be with me forever.

I feel your pain budman. We lost our black Cocker about 3 weeks ago, and it is still hard to come home in the evenings without his warm greetings. He was 13 yrs. old and our best friend all those years. We had him cremated and his ashes are on our mantle with his picture and keepsakes. Miss him a lot.

I am so SORRY Budman. Zoe is like my child. I could not even think about not having her here. Keep the collar and avatar as a tribute to your best friend!

Sorry for your loss I don't know what I would do without my Nash. My mother in law had to put down her/our first Golden in November. He was 14 years old and lived the life of a King....just the other day she got her Norman!! A 7 week old Golden and cute as a button!!

Sorry to hear about your loss... Get a nice picture of Buddy, frame it and hang the collar on a corner of the frame. Or you can get fancy and have the collar set in matting inside the frame.
Here is my Boxer "Panzer" I love this dog I know I would be grieving hard if I lost him.
Take care,
Rob
