Bear, you are just about in the center of land fall. It is turning east quickly. Don't stay there. I know that area very well, it is as flat as a pancake! Surges of 18 feet could devastate up to 1-2 miles inland. Punta Gorda airport is only 25 feet above sea level.

Two hours till landfall. The weather channel just said 18 foot storm surge. Its time to forget about material things and worry about keeping safe. Good luck!

I've got 2 freinds doing a job down there this week. They are staying in a hotel in port charlotte I believe. Apperantly the hotel wouldn't transfer them out, All they told these guys was to fill the bathtub with water.

Best of luck and stay safe. Just bought a place of Bonita Beach Rd. in the Marbella development. Been through this crap with Hugo and had 2ft of sand on the first floor.

Good luck,
Greg

My wife (Sandi) has finally heard from her parents who were in Nokomis on Bayshore. She hadn't been able to get ahold of them, but they called about an hour ago from Sebring (still not the best location) but better than where they were.
