I just looked at the satelite on Weather.com, it looks like it's going to slam into Ft. Meyers. My Fiance's father lives in Ft. Meyers. Be safe, and be smart.

Looks like Hugetime took a direct hit. Rags said he talked to him this morning and Huge still had his boat on the lift.

Re: Charley is closing in on FMB area!

I live in Nokomis, with the canal in my back yard, and Dona Bay across the street.

For two hours we were terrified watching this 145 mph storm follow the coast, then thankfully, it instinctively followed the water and went straight up Charlotte Harbor. From there it's going to Arcadia then headed off towards Jacksonville. Parts of the south side of Charlotte Harbor reported 19 foot storm surge, with the rest of the harbor experiencing 12/15 foot surge.

We missed 145 mph winds by less than 35 miles. 35 friggin miles. We saw some gusts in the 75 mph range and some sustained at around 50, but other than that just a good ole Florida rainstorm. So far we have not lost power.

I feel for those who were not expecting it inland because they weren't concerned. They didn't prepare for it and don't have time to at this point. Best of luck to all of them. I hope some of my good luck shines on them also.

We did our part in prepping for this. Plywood all the large windows and sliders, I've got "Outlaw" tied down on the trailer like it was into "bondage".

I took a quick drive around the neighborhood and didn't see a single limb down.

I still can't believe that we missed that horrific storm by less than 35 miles.

Deb kept saying her father, also named Charles (Charlie), would be looking down on us "from above" and would look out for us. For Deb and myself, thank you "Charlie".
You saved our home.

Best of luck to everyone out there who has to deal with this. Godspeed......
