Very good point NetGain, but a 240 is a different boat from a 25 Outlaw, correct? I would put the 25 Outlaw as a closer competitior to a 260 Velocity than a 240.

The 240 is the precursur to the 24 Outlaw. Same hull, deck, etc.. till 96 I believe. All they did was rename the 240 the 24 Outlaw and put a fiberglass fairing on it vs. windshield.

I owned a 24 Outlaw 10 years ago and had no complaints about it's build quality or durability. It flew straight and landed softly and once you got the boat up on the small pad it ran pretty fast. What I didn't care for was the fact the boat seemed to move around a lot at speed (even with Latham steering) and tended to need a lot of trim to get on the pad. While my boat seldom chined - I know of others that chined badly. Get the external steering with this boat. It was nice boat that served ne very well!

Now the Velocity - which I've riden in a few 260's. The speed part has already been beat to death. The Velocity will also hands down out turn the Baja. The Velocity runs flatter and is more stable at speed then the Baja. In my opinion the build quality of Velocity 260 is better then the 24 Outlaw in some area. The 24 Outlaw used a lot of Plywood in the cockpit and bulkheads - Velocity uses the plastic Starboard or glassed panels. The Outlaw uses glued in cockpit carpet where the Velocity has Pirelli flooring and snap in carpet.

Bottom line - try them both out and pick what you like best for how you intend to use it. Both are good choices for a 24 footer.
