Ft. Lauderdale places to stay

I am planing a "surprise" 30th birthday trip for my wife to Ft. Lauderdale over labor day weekend. Any input where to stay? We had reservations at Tweenwaters in Captiva that are hosed for obvious reasons. My heart goes out to those there in that area by the way, I feel kinda like as$ asking about my silly trip with all the stuff they are dealing with. Anyhow, we are looking for a nice place with marina we can keep the boat in. (we are trailering our 20 ft boat over from St. Pete) I see Hyatt (Pier 66) and the Radison. Any info on either? Thanks in advance.

Mike

Opps I forgot one more thing...any input as to a local ramp ? My last issue might be to speak to the dockmaster wherever about trailer parking while the boat is in the water. Thanks

There is a ramp on 15th street which is two blocks over from 17th street where Pier 66 (Hyatt) is located. Bahia Mar sent out flyer about a $119 or $159 (can't remember) special for room and slip. Not sure what the details were but try calling them. They are one the beach and only minutes from 15th street ramp.

Try Lago Mar, they are also on the beach and have slips.

you can park the truck and trailer at the 15th street ramp the entire weekend if you feed the meter. it is reasonable. you can ride the water taxi or walk anywhere from these three locations

I Second OSO's suggestion, Bahia Mar is in da middle of it all, across from beach, nice marina, close to port Everglades, walk to BeachPlace, boat to Shooters.........etc...........

I agree.

As another suggestion, there is also the Marina Marriott on S.E. 17th street ( across the bridge and ICW from Pier 66 ) that has dockage and the public launch ramp that Steve mentioned is on the same canal as them.

If you do go to the Sands, Hit up Sam's for their seafood it is attached to the hotel, For a take out lunch Bella Monte Deli across Atlantic ave, and for a great Italian Dinner on a special night go up Atlantic a couple of blocks on the right is Costa Verde for the veal saltambocco. The old Bootlegger's and Shooters is a short boat ride up the ICW
