Best Boats
 

My vote has to be the Lancer Series of Chris Crafts which are glass and not wood as previously posted. In particular, the XK-22 is one of the best lookng boats ever built. And yes, it's a deep vee.http://www.xboat.fr/photos/bateau_517.jpg

Saber and Pantera should be high on the list. The red boats that they have put out are very nice. I have always liked the looks of the Tuff 28 also.

As far as best least talked about my money is on the 1969 Chris Craft Commander Super Sport.

105 total built with just 15 Volvo Transdrive High Performance versions made. 24 degree deep V hull designed by Jim Wynne (famed offshore racer in the 1960s and patent holder of the Volvo I/O) good for an amazingly stable ride though its definitely a lake boat in my eyes. Gets offers to buy her every time she gets wet.

Beautiful boat! But offshore, not....

maybe not but in 69 boats like that paved the way into at least thinking about it with deeper freeboard and high performance (for the day) drivetrain :cool: Definitely a cool 'ol boat and cool piece of history. I'm guessing a Volvo E series drive?

A least talked about in offshore is hard because they are all discussed here. Regular boats, there was a company out of Minnesota that built some nice runabouts in the 70's until 1980. My parents had a 19ft Farallon in 80. Neighbors and family friends had the 16ft. they still have it today. I still see the smaller runabouts for sale on craigslist here and in Seattle. It was a very popular boat here in the NW.

They where the Bayliner here of the 70's and 80's. Larson took them over in 1980 they made a pretty cool looking outboard boat

We had other neighbors with a Larson/Silverline sport but we didn't know them well.

Oh we had a cottage on a local lake here and pretty much you either had a V-drive, jet or a Silverline in those days.

2 of the best riding/driving deep V boats that I've ever experienced were Jim Wynne hulls , regardless of what some may say of him .
I've never been able to try a Formula 233 though . They're supposed to be great hulls too .

42 outerlimits. Hands down one of the best handling bottoms out there.
