Boating over-Surgery for Mr. P

We got the results from the CAT scan, from Ian's water skiing fall on Sunday. The doc says a majority of all the ligamonts across the top of his
left foot is torn, along with a few fractures. He wants to schedule him for surgery next week. He even said it is one of the worst he's seen, and he is a foot and ankel ortopedic doc :(

I guess we had our last ride on the BT for the season. He will not even be able to put any weight on the foot for 6 weeks. Needless to say we are feeling pretty down. Many have suffered worse things, and we will survive so we can't be to depressed.

At the moment we have plans to be in Key West for the races so if anyone will be there with their boat an offer of a ride just might cheer him up :D

I feel for you guys. See my topic about A Man His Boat and A Wedding Ring. Doc told me 6-8 weeks without any weight on my foot after heel surgery. Its been a week already. Just be prepared to be in bed for a few days after surgery. Remember a positive attitude is the best medicine.

Good luck we are in the same boat!!!!

Better than going to Dr and learning you have terminal cancer.

This summer here sucks anyway. Get well Ian. At least your engines are running good!!

Dave your right, things could always be worse, Rog I am trying to do stuff for him, but he hates it, keeps on saying I'll get it, I'll do it. Today on crutches he is on his way to the quarter car wash. His dually has been in one place for so long, it is covered in acorns, & it is driving him nuts
I did read the thread about the ring, just awful I think that sounds worse.

Like the song says .............We will survive

You are right about that, we have a trip planned to Vail the first week in Feb, his boots hurt him before, who knows how it will feel now :(
How are you enjoying that new boat of yours

Love the boat....thanks. But probably looking to downsize now that we have a house on the water. Who knows what will be next!

I hope six months is enough time for Ian to heal. I'll keep my fingers crossed! Tell him not to rush it.

Re: Boating over-Surgery for Mr. P

I had foot surgery last year...I had a very good orthopedic (sports medicine specialist) but it was a rough surgery. I went through 6 months of healing (per family Dr. recommendation  )to find out I would need surgery anyway  . Then it was another 3 months after surgery before all the casts and braces were gone.

Make sure you do ANY physical therapy the recommend.

Good luck

Sorry to hear about Ian... Look on the bright side your saving tons of money on fuel and you can lower your insurance costs!

Hope he feels better soon... If it will make him feel better I will take the boat out and video me Jumping freighter wakes in Lake St Clair with it :D

Re: Boating over-Surgery for Mr. P

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. :) Surgery is on Friday then a few more weeks to goof off before going back to work. Donna's been great but it is frustrating not being able to do anything myself. Worst thing is I can't get on the computer all day because Donna uses it for work. Hope everyone has fun these last weeks of the summer. Ian
