The new 30 Outlaws should touch 80 with that power, I can't see the 33 doing it!

Towed behind the truck maybe, GPS on.

Re: could this even be true? the GPS speed

Most of the 33's with HO's run between 74-76 on GPS. As long as they have labbed props.

No way!

Judging from my AT, I think it might be possible; very light load and right water for the boat.

I think that is the nicest thing I have ever said about a Baja. :D

Re: could this even be true? the GPS speed

I've had a 36, 38, and 40 baja, had 496ho's in the 36 it ran 70. rode in a 33 it ran 73, and the 30 will run 76-77 on gps with these motors. I've been in too many bajas, this is all they will do

Re: could this even be true? the GPS speed

I thought it was just common practice for
the sellers to add at least 5 mph to the top
speed of the boat, be it new or used.

I call it the "actual retail speed" :D :D :D

ONE WAY TO FIND OUT....LET IT RIP AND BRING THE GPS. TELL HIM FOR EVERY MPH UNDER 80 MPH HE HAS TO TAKE OFF $2500.00 THEN SEE WHAT HAPPENS...if it only does 70mph your $25,000 ahead of the game

I just got a spectre that the guy said would only do 97, then we procedded to rip off a 107 on the test drive, I would of been in the hole $25,000 doing that..... needless to say I bought the boat.

OK Kids,
(I call everyone kids since I turned 40 a couple of years ago, so don't take offense) Think about this, GPS is speed over ground, if you have a boat that goes 70mph and you are going down current on a river with a 10mph current, you ust got a extra 10mph thanks to the river. All you have to do is make sure you do your top speed run going down current and your cruise speed back "up" the river. That's why the Kilos are run in "both" directions. I would be more concerned with the "water" speed of the boat. I remember one time I was fishing 70 miles off of Jacksonville and we were trolling at 0 mph in one direction and 14 mph in the other on the GPS but if you looked at the Yamaha speedos, we were going 7 mph each way! Just thought I would throw this out there for ya'll to think about, GPS isn't the final answer in speed.

Re: could this even be true? the GPS speed

I agree with Mr. Tanner if you ran south in the pacific you were always 4-6 mph faster because of the current or tide. Now for the 33 Outlaw it runs mid 70's with the 496 mag HO been there done that tried every which way to make it go faster but that was all she had bone stock with labbed props.

Re: could this even be true? the GPS speed

Or......................you could go with the 34'Superboat, and do 85mph with twin 496's. Or the Y2K 30' , and do 78 with a single 496, or 85 with 377's.

Re: could this even be true? the GPS speed

The guy must have bought his gps from the same place every person that boats around here got theirs!!!!! 90 % of my dockside conversations involve someone asking me how fast my boat goe's,especially if i have the hatch open and they see the blower, when asked i tell people anywhere from 80-85 mph depending on load, conditions etc. They usually answer with "thats all?,my stock(insert name) with 5o2 mpi,496 ho,454 mag or even 5.7 merc goes 80 mph". Funny thing is,NONE of these loudmouths ever really seem to pass me except when they are violating the no wake law!! The guys that actually have fast boats(there are a few) won't volunteer much unless your willing to compare notes,Smitty

Re: could this even be true? the GPS speed

Not one chance in hell will that boat do 80 with 496 HO's...unless its on the trailer on the the hiway.....Baja are good handling non-step v-bottoms. Before I bought my AT I serioulsy looked at a 33 outlaw with a blueprinted bottom. 77 mph on speedo then 75 on GPS w/ 500 hp's. There might have been a mile or 2 left since we were full on fule but it was a salt water sea trial. Nice handling ..smooth ride...but no the fastest

with the hours and the year of the boat its not too bad a price....wouldn't be a bad ride for someone.

Re: could this even be true? the GPS speed

Could do 80 on a trailer is the only way possible.

Re: could this even be true? the GPS speed

I have a 2003 33' Outlaw with completely stock 496 HO's. 75.1 MPH on GPS is my best. I've spoke with others and this seems to be the norm.
