Bravos on a Cafe Racer?

I am considering a Cafe Racer that has Bravos on it, some people that I talk to seem to think that this is a bad setup for such a heavy boat.

Any insight on this?

You will be fine, just don't pull any holeshots and let off the sticks when you catch air. How much power is it running? There are many people on the board who are running Bravo's on Cafe Racers. They are great boats. Cignificant is running blown 502s (I think 650HP)without any problems. You might want to PM him, he is a cool dude and knows his stuff.

Bravos are common on TG's. Mine has Bravos with 600's :) . Keep the HP below 525 and you will not turn your prop shaft splines into a fancy candy cane spiral design. :D

I think I know the boat that you are talking about and the current owner has`nt had any problems that I know of. If you hav`nt seen this boat in person yet your in for a treat. If I were in the market for a Cafe, I`d buy it in a heartbeat.

I never had a problem with that set-up.

Had 2000 / 502 Mag MPI's pushing bravo's on a 1994 Cafe.

Have them on a cafe I recently bought, w/ 515 hp. No problems. I would reccomend external steering to save the gimbles. Previous owner had problems and none since installing steering.

Tony,
Did you ever buy that cafe....................... :)

seafordguy 01-13-2010 08:05 PM

I've got mild blowers on 502's with my Cafe.

Knock on wood, I haven't had any trouble yet. I treat it accordingly....

I have HP 500 EFI's with Whipples turning Bravo XR's on my 1995 Cafe... all you need for long life is to keep the testosterone guage in the green. As mentioned above, I believe the external hydraulic steering is a must.
