I'm going to buy a sponsorship on OSO that way I can F*CK you all out of your money. If you say anything bad about me OSO will close the thread, and if you persist to bring up the matter you will find yourself purchasing a new account on OSO in order to access it.

This is great and your going to love it because I'll make more money and so will OSO.
As a paying member of OSO when you get F*CKed by me or another advertiser on OSO smile because you supporting the Boating Industry

Someone needs a hug?
The site is owned by an individual.
You knew this when you paid for membership.
The individual has control over the site.
You knew this when you paid for membership.
The individual can delete, close, edit, or omit anything he/ she wants because he/she owns the site.
You knew this when you paid for membership.
You get warnings before getting dropped and apparently this happened. but you obviously paid again to come back on.
You knew this when you paid for membership. A second time!
So either start your own site with paying members or deal with the way things work here.
And if this is about the NM thing, I think Steve is covering his a$$ because of all the speculation and inaccurate drama. Would you not do the same with the new site you will soon be starting?

I do have a PM account too if you want to reply there. ;)

No, I actually have no idea who it is, nor do I care. We all had a chance to read the terms and conditions while signing up, and I think common sence tells you that he who owns the site dictates its content. So there is no reason to become a poodle over threads closing. We all would close a thread if our neck was on the line for possibly innacurate content that could be deemed slander on a public forum. At the end of the day the owner of the site is more responsible than the person posting the thread. Im just putting myself in Steves shoes for a minute and using common judgment. Unlike posting a thread about stopping threads on a site who stopped the thread that the thread starter dint want stopped...Dizzy yet

Lets be intellectually honest here... Steve has little or no liability for slanderous statements by members on his forum, that is just the excuse for poofing some threads that create inherent conflicts of interest. Fact is that although we as the forum members represent a portion of his income the advertisers do also but with the added benefit of being able to give percs that we dont have. Nothing wrong with that! The fine line that has be walked is that of avoiding the unjustfied bashing of advertisers while ensuring that scumbags arent taking advantage of his forum members. I submit that he seems to do a pretty good job although he errs on the conservative side when it comes to allegations about advertisers. This past week has been tough because alot of GOOD people with credibility on this forum have found out that they are in for a rough road. Unforunately at the same time OSO seemed to be trying to quiet the situation. Maybe next week will bring better news!!!

Brett,

You and I are going to have our first battle over this one. I do not believe that Steve has ever used liability for libel as a pretext for poofing a thread. On the contrary, he usually warns the people making speculative, adverse posts that THEY may be held accountable for their statements by the party to whom their posts are directed. He knows most advertisers on this site personally and, therefore, errs on the side of protecting their business interests due to the speed at which gossip and innuendo fly around these forums, often without factual support. As you well know, harmful, untrue statements about a person's business practices are de facto libelous. OSO does a very good job at balancing the business interests of its advertisers with the personal interests on its members. I disagree with you that OSO tried to "quiet the situation" with NM. The thread was left alone for some time, until unfounded rumors about federal investigations and arrests were posted. At some point, OSO has to step in to restore the equilibrium. It is very easy for us to chime in from the sidelines. It is a far more difficult task to be the one doing the balancing act.

I may have gotten caught up in the post that I was responding to............. but I think is substance we agree and my post reflects that. This whole thing brings back memories of Keith Eickert Power Products and the BS that went on around there!! I assisted 3 people in getting property returned from the claws of .... well you know the rest. Now it appears that I may be doing quite a bit of work related to this issue.

Fever Mike,

There is an adminstative holding period on threads in the Beware section. As long as we are on a run here talking trash about people and their businesses, remind your race buddy of the money he still owes this company.

Law,

When the comments about KE and its owners using drugs came flying around the threads were closed. They were not an advertiser.

OrganDonor,

Catch you on the rebound.

I am not going to explain myself anymore, there are plenty of Forums out there if you want to visit them you can. Nobody forces you to come here but I will be dammed if I will allow people to sling more crap when they have no idea about some of the things they are talking about. (OrganDonor).
