Of course their idiots, they own blowbotes.

Their two main reasons for being:

quaint post card pictures and hanging laundry.

I remember a story in Boating magazine once about how their "quaint little regattas were messing up our Poker Run". I laughed for days.

That's why they have WHITE flares for practice/testing/sail melting. McCollin I know you have depths of knowledge, I just mentioned white flares so no one gets the wrong idea.

I posted on their site.

After reading their thread and seeing tht somebody was using a powerboat ramming accident as ironclad proof that powerboaters were idiots, I just felt compelled...

I read your post mcollinstn on the blow boater sight, well said!!
Having done a lot of sailing in my days, I have an appreciation for both power and sail. That being said, as much as I enjoy sailing, given the choice, I much prefer blasting across the water at 70mph!!

It's known fact to pass a sailboat on the leeward side.
You are not supposed to steal their wind.
Not sure how I know this, but I've known it forever.
Maybe learned it in the boating course I took when I was 9.

BUT... our boats are so low, that they probably don't even come
up to the boom of the sailboat. So no wind taken.

You're absolutely right. I learned that years ago when I took the boating course. It had be in 1965.
If you do have to pass on the windward side try stay as far away as you safely can so you steal as little wind as possible.

Remeber, sail boats have the right of way over power boats.
But, both operators must do everything possible to avoid a collision.

It's siuations like these that will cause manditory licensing of boat operators.
