Need de-icers suggestions - I know it's early
I know it is early but now is the time to buy one. We just bought waterfront and have a new 90' peir with about 12' of water. I want to order a de-icer but have no idea who makes good brands. The big brands carry Kasco. I was thinking the 3/4 HP with the controls. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Need de-icers suggestions - I know it's early
I have a kasco 3/4 hp, works pretty well to de-ice most of the length of my 50' dock. You'll probably need at least 2 for yours, maybe more if it gets real cold (on brief cold snaps the open water can drop overnight to maybe 25-30' diameter). I've not broken down to buy the thermonstat, just walk down to the dock when it gets cold and plug it in, I let it run pretty much continuously when the water is freezing. They seems to last 2-3 seasons.

How deep of water are you talking? I believe that has a lot to do with sizing them. I have a mean depth of 12 feet at the end. Not sure how much will blow out come winter.
