Killer Shootout pics

My buddy is a professional photographer. He took over 1600 shots of the Shootout runs. They are grouped in albums. Each contains multiple images.

Check them out here

They haven't posted them on the site yet. I have been looking too. Check www.lakeshootout.com periodically. Thats where they will eventually get posted.

I have a couple of pics of boats standing up. There were some rollers around the 1/3 point of the course. Several boats stood up at the same point. This was also the spot where the cat started to lose it last year.

The Callan Marine boat looks like it got really out of shape. That must be hair raising at those speeds.

Re: Killer Shootout pics

I belive Mike ran 105 on the Radar gun, his trim cylinder on one engine was leaking, if he flew the boat the engine would move and then upset the running.

Should have ran at least 10 mph faster

Were you referring to the 28 Skater?? If so I know he ran 121 earlier in the year that is with modified 300 promax's which is awesome. Just curious. Did any 28's break 120mph?

97BossHammer 09-02-2004 11:58 AM

Oh Yessssssssssssss

Word was that they hit some debris which took OFF the rudder. Try running 140 with no steering some day!

The rudder came off a couple of hunred feet before the finish line. We were running 200 when the boat got out of shape lifted off the throttle crossing the finish line at 206 (one gps said 206 & one 207). I will post the cockpit video after it'd digitized.

Cord 09-02-2004 02:10 PM

Re: Killer Shootout pics

Ok, now did you get jipped by the bum radar? I though that Miss Bud won with a near 200 speed.

tachyon 09-02-2004 02:14 PM

Re: Killer Shootout pics

Radar was configured wrong on Sat. All times were low the first day. We had 206 in the cockpit and they had 171 on radar. Things were corrected Sunday and the gps times were very close to the radar. I wish we had a rudder Sunday...and the water was much better...

Hey, that's me! Topped out at a blazing 85MPH!! Next year looking for 86. Only need 120 more MPH to catch Callan.

Yep, the 28' Skater with modified 300 Pro Max engines.

Should run well in to the low-mid 120's with the power it is making.

Mike Lembcke is the owner out of Atlanta.

Great pictures! I wasn't far from the starting line, so I didn't get to see Ms. Bud come out of the water but after seeing that picture, that must have been awesome to see though. I saw more boats here than I did in two days of sitting at the Shootout... It seemed like a boat was only running about every 10 minutes or so.
