Anyone know of a company that can duplicate the windshield on my 22' Scarab? Unfortunetly mine was damaged and I'm not holding out hope that I can find a used one.

Re: Scarab windshield
I found a piece for a friend for his 1994 Scarab, It was the office of Taylor Made in Brandonton FL that made them for Scarab at that point. Call Wellcraft to have the number of the assembly, then call Taylor Made at costumer service at the Brandonton branch.
He was quoted $2k by the local suppliers and we ended up getting it for $250. Hope this helps... Here is what I posted about it then. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ht=taylor+made

Gets quotes from $2,000 US to $5,000 US just for the part!  Meanwhile I find the part # thru Wellcraft and had figured out the manufacturer was now a division of Taylor Made in Bradenton, FL talk to Lisa in customer service she ships me the whole thing with gaskets including shipping for $216.00 US. So last night he came and picked up the part that was shipped inside foam like it was going to Mars! He was so thankful he bought Diner for the whole gang 6 of us and gave me a bottle of Remy Martin "XO" which we made a dent in! So thank you to all Wellcraft dealers in Quebec for restocking my Remy Martin cabinet and the Baked Stuffed Lobster at the Rusty Scuffer!!! |
Re: Scarab windshield
Related, a company called ViPlex in Sarasota made some windshield parts around 1990 or so, but I'm not sure if they're still in business, I could not find them a few years ago when I needed some parts.
Would like to know who did the factory vinyl manufacturing for Scarabs, including the beetle graphic for sunpads. One of my projects might be replacing the interior, and not too impressed with what the local mid-Atlantic upholstery guys do here. |
Re: Scarab windshield
Roby, A few years ago I ordered one from wellcraft for my 22. I think it took about a month to get it. I have the receipt around, If I remember right it was aprox $500 with shipping. At the time the dealer said they sell at least 2-3 a season due to people stepping on it. I still have the broken one. Doug

Re: Scarab windshield
I was afraid of that. :( Perhaps a few of the Wellcraft Employees broke out on their own, or maybe Wellcraft has some people still on staff to do side projects . . . . . .

Re: Scarab windshield
if you have the old one an acrylic should be able to make you a duplicate
its not gonna be cheap though |
