Hurricane aftermath from Stuart FL
After wondering about our vacation home, we finally received (9/7/04) a general statement of the condition at Sailfish Point in Stuart FL. The eye of Frances passed right over here.
Sailfish Pt is at the south western tip of Hutchenson Is. The main road is covered by at least 4' of sand & there are trees piled high everywhere. access is very limited into the property but the by water, the condos look ok but the homes are pretty beaten up. The marina lost a 45' sport fish but no other word about all the boats behind homes on the canals. Many businesses were destroyed in downtown Stuart. Hotels lost roofs and even the hurricane shelter lost its roof (the people were evacuated when the eye was overhead). Access is very limited out to Hutchenson Is. so the following pictures were sent to me of the downtown area. |

Thanks to Carl Camper of Yachtforums.com for attempting to check out my property in Stuart. Though he was denied access to the Island, he took some pictures around the mainland....

Re: Hurricane aftermath from Stuart FL
Carl tells me he saw a big marina on the news with a massive pile of over 100' yachts. All I can think of is possibly American Custom Yachts? That is where most yachts would run to for a hurricane.
I'll post more when I hear. I'll also post some more shots once Carl gets access out to Hutchenson Is. |

OMG! Meer words cannot express my shock and dismay. I have never been through a hurricane, and I never want to.
God speed y'all. |
