Moving Up
 

Hey All, I have just a basic question for everyone. I want to move up from a 2003 29 Fountain with a 525 EFI. I am looking in the 200k range and I am heavily leaning towards the 35 lightning w 525s. Any thoughts on other options? I am considering a Nordic Flame or a Top Gun but the Cig is pricy and the Flame is one I know little of. What other boats would you all consider and why? Thanks Jim

Tomorrow is the big day....new fuel pump, pressure regulator and cleaned intake from tank. If that doesnt do it, I will still have a 62 mph Fever.

PS. Merc Racing has said it is the regulator 3 times so far, pump will be here in the morning.... hope they are right.

If you are going to stay with the Fountain brand dont go to the 35 look more towards the 38 alot more boat for some reason.
I have a friend that bought a 35 Flame with 500 efi's and it is really fast 85-89 every day, handles the water good and easy to tow., lighter boat.

If you are bent on a 35 Fountain, there is a meticulously maintained used 35 with 500EFIs in VA. Formerly owned by Tarheel here on OSO.

They don't come any cleaner than this one. I am not endorsing the dealer, but the boat is immaculate.

You might want to ck the speed difference on the 38 over the 35 . I know the 38 use to slower than the 42 before they changed the bottom.

depends if ya want speed or some room. The 35 is a fast boat

35' with 525's performance sheets show WOT at 92 MPH. The 38' with 525 is a 89-90 MPH boat. Cockpit size is very similar on both. Don't gain much in the 38' except the staggered motors which are very neat. Haven't seen many 35' Lightnings out there-- market is saturated with 35X's. I would think 200M would be awefully close to buying a new 35' Lightning. The 38' are sweet, but not many in inventory. Dealers ask $20-25M more for the 38's then the 35's when you can find one. Most dealers I talk to are pushing the 42X rather then the 38. Same $$$'s but more boat. Good hunting......

For $200,000 you can find a nice used, low hour 42 with 525's that will run in the low to mid 80's. It is a lot more boat than the 35.

I am a little biased, but I say get a Gun. I have driven a new 35 fountain and was not impressed. The Nordic is fast but it is really a lake boat. I guess what type of boating you do makes a difference as well. Our Gun is kind of boring at the lake but in the ocean it is a blast.

I have a beautiful 2004 nordic 35 with 525's that I may have to sell that would be under 200k. The boat has about 50 hrs and is fast(about 92mph). It is not the typical Nordic and is very custom. I have had a lot of boats and I think the ride is great and we boat on Long Island in some pretty crappy waters.

I've never owned either a Fountain or a Cig, but I personally would choose the Cig. A 38 TS Gun with 525's run out well, and my thoughts says the reale value on that would be no comparison to the Fountain. Just my two cents.

I'm glad you like it :cool:

I like to think of it as being more setup for sport :)

It has driver side and portside throttles ... I run driver side connected. Only one or the other can be connected at any one time.

Those are some badass boats boys! What is the deal with that Red Cig? Like the Nordic too. I have priced a new one already with that set up. The maroon paint is cool as hell.

2004 Gladiator....every available option....525's, XR drives with Sportsmaster lowers.....92mph GPS......45hrs on boat....immaculate.....and for those that have noticed...the lift has been altered to accomondate the TS...it didnt sit like this for long....
