Default Caravelle interceptor 232

I know its not an offshore, but I'll try anyways... Some of you guys must have had smaller boats at some point :-)

I'm about to buy the above mentioned boat and is looking to have some advise on whether this model has specific weak points to look for ? Any bad things about it ?

It is a 97 with a 7,4 merc carb and a Volvo SX drive. Is this an ok combo ?

/Thanks

I have a freinds with one and they hate it. They have had alot of problems with the hull. They had alot of cracks all over the hull and had trouble getting them to fix them. They finally fixed them and started cracking again but know even worse.

I have heard the same as Russ about these boats. Chances are you'll find a nice Baja, Scarab or something similiar for around the same price...or maybe a little higher. I'd definitly check it out before you buy the Caravelle.

Thanks for the advise..

Went to check the boat out.

There was a leak under the windscreen - result black spots in the roof of the cabin :-(

Lots of gelcoat cracks (it is a '97 ?!?)

loose and rusty hinges on enginehatch

Some of the gauges didn't work

etc..

so it seems like you've got a point.

Problem is that the powerboat market here in Denmark is very limited.. A couple of 26 feet Scarabs (50000 $ and up), a couple of old cigarettes (100.000 $ and up.. and thats about it..

I need something at about 20.000 $. Seems like i need to take a trip to the US.. Saw a 28 feet '91 checkmate here at OSO which I've already inquired about..
