Windshield Channel

I need to replace the middle square window that opens to get to the bow. I've got the glass and hinge assembly, where could I find the alum. channel? It has a groove milled into it for the cover snaps also. Not available at the dealer. Thanks

Re: Windshield Channel

Try any local (or not) new metal dealer that supplies materials (aluminum) to industry or get online and see if Alcoa or someone has extrusion close enough to match. Being a machinist for Boeing we see tons of different extrusions but most are proprietery. Also depending on the type it may be something they use in the RV industry or even a screen door. Look around and I'm sure you'll come up with something or have a shop or buddy with a BridgePort mill you some to match out of bar stock.
Good Luck!!!

Chris*Craft is your first choice, even though it would be pricy, if they still have it. It will save you months of searching. Take this from someone who worked with Chris*Craft for years. Ed :D

Find out "who" made the oringinal windshield. Taylor made the one for my SeaRay and I hade to go through them get a piece of glass a couple years ago. There should be a decal or etching on the starboard side.

I had to replace all the glass,no problem because I had all the frames.I have a piece of glass for the center window, just no frame.Tried Chris Craft,no go.They said "to many different styles, make one yourself." I'll find it,just have to start surfing.:D

Re: Windshield Channel

I was trying say that you might be able to get the frame from whoever made the windshield, maybe I didn't explain myself very well, sorry.

That's ok Robert, I got it! There is nothing etched or ingraved or written anywhere on these frames. Maybe these were replaced already. Tks
