The gas fill side may seem like nothing, but believe me, when you wanna get to the water, and the gas station is busy, its not fun turning the rig around, and fighting to get back in line to pump another 100 gallons in the pig after just pumping 40 into the truck.
The Checkmate was only longer including the swim platform, by an inch, but still.

As for the gas station, ain't that the truth. When I am putting nearly 180 gallons in the boat, and close to 40 in the truck, I am NO JOKE, in the gas station for minimum 45 minutes to 1 hour; and that is at a big Sheets or Wawa.

You shoulda seen the fit people were having when I pulled into the gas station 2 nights before the hurricane to Fill the truck(40 gallons), and the boat with 50 more gallons(was half full already) to weigh it down during the storm, and had to turn around mid way!!!

I wonder what would happen if you Vacume bagged a 31 sonic
I do like the idea of a 28 sonic vac bagged with a 525efi and a Konrad drive for confidence

ALL new Sonics are vacuum bagged (Infusion) Top.

A new vacuum Bagged 28 Single Sonic with a single KE750 and Konrad drive... whoah the potential.

Richard, are you reading this?
Limited edition...
28 Infused Hull
KE750 Blower Motor
Konrad Drive
Rigged by none other than Mindi and Doller.

That boat would give a 28 Pantera a run for the money 7 days a week.

This could even be a competive step for Sonic to enter F1.

I almost bought a Sonic 26 4 years ago when I bought my Checkmate 259. The fit and finish, and layout on the Sonic are way better. The Sonic has a bigger cabin that you can really use. The Checkmate has a bigger cockpit and a smaller (hard to get in and out of) cabin. I ended up buying the Checkmate because it was a little less money, and primarily because it was faster with the same power. A lot faster. Keep in mind, I was running it on an inland lake that on its worst day sees 2 foot waves. Last year I moved to Connecticut and put the Checkmate on the Long Island Sound. You do not have any idea how hard I'm kicking myself for not buying the Sonic. The entire speed advantage I had over the Sonic is long gone, as the Checkmate launches halfway to the moon with the big waves out there. No structural problems and the hull seems strong (although certainly light), but eventually launching all the time starts to get a little old. The heavier Sonic would definately be a better big water boat. Sounds to me like you're in smaller water, so take a look at a Checkmate. If you don't mind the little fit and finish stuff and aren't doing tons of overnighting, you're probably going to spend a little less, and have a little bit faster boat.
