Re: Repo Men ~ on the water...
Thats such a joke. If my guys got in a pushing match to hook an asset it would be the last time. And why would they actually "START" the boat at the dock, rather that TIE UP and pull it away from the dock...then start it. (How often does your boat just start up? Would you risk getting shot that you could start it on the first try?) Im not saying they are amatures, but they sure werent professional. 5 guys in black shirts in the middle of the day rolling in on the same boat, yea right!!! Television...It makes us all look bad!

I agree, Mr. Know it All!
I saw that show. For the "unenlightened" it makes these guys look like a bunch of cowboys.
I hate what TV has done to the Police, as well. Makes us look lke a buch of idiots with car chases, foot chases, warrants, and on and on.
Sorry, I got away with myself

Let me put it this way. Most repo guys are so good, that you have no idea that you stuff has been taken until it is miles away.
You dont know when your talking to a skip tracer, you dont think about what you told them or why they know so much about you. You dont know the repo guy is looking through your front window getting the VIN, or popping the lock, or even putting the hook under your car. Middle of the night or middle of the day these guys blend into the background. Not four fat F%$ks jumping on each other trying to start a boat. Or even holding back a debtor from getting back in a motor home. A good thief is the one you never knew was there!
The only good part of the show was when they asked about feeling bad about the job. I love how everyone veiws debtors as victems.

The sad part about borrowing money on a car or boat is even if you owe one nickle on it... it can get dragged off by the repo man if you miss enough payments. The worst is when someone knows their stuff is going to get repo-ed and they strip it and then make a claim on the insurance....

All of the ones that I have met were because the Repo Guy thought there was a good chance for violence and wanted us to stand by. Each one was without drama.

The job of a movie producer is to sell the show, not show the truth. Everything on that show is staged and acted out. If there were companies practicing procedures like they portray on that show, attorneys would be chasing repossession companies instead of ambulances. The law is wrote to protect the consumer not the creditor. Four fat guys holding a debtor back is not a legal repossession.
