Ended season with ANOTHER blown drive
I hate limping back to the harbor on one engine, especially on what has become the last day of the season. I think this is the fourth time this season. Any suggestions for next year? Replace the XRs with surface drives?
What's good with a 42' Sonic and 750s? |
Re: Ended season with ANOTHER blown drive
Should have used two RIGHT hand drives
Left hand drives always get blown :D |
Re: Ended season with ANOTHER blown drive
For that size boat and HP, #3a's

I had a 42 Sonic w/500 efi's and bravo's. It's to heavy of a boat, and w/750's, I don't care even if you take your time getting on plane or go easy keeping the boat in the water you will still have problems with the weak link, the drives. I have a 4300 Nortech with #5 drives, 1400 Bam trannies, Stelling boxes and 750hp TMP motors, havent had any problems, pretty much a flawless set up. #3 would be suffecient, I just like overkill in this area. Anything with a tranny will help your situation, good luck. Jeff
If I dont sell my boat by end of season, I will be repowering :D and selling everything from transom back, I'm going w/Weisman drives, their #6 version. |
Re: Ended season with ANOTHER blown drive
Bob,
I think the problem is that there is too much liquor in the boat!!! Mark |
Re: Ended season with ANOTHER blown drive
You definately need something. I would look into the bravo-arneson conversion with the trans in the box. Breaking sucks!

Were you leaving from Boaters Beach? If so we talked about the XR's over a beer. Sorry to hear. Dennis |

Sounds like new boat time to me! Wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean?

Re: Ended season with ANOTHER blown drive
Go get 'em Terry! Put 'em in one of them fancy HOT RODS! I hopefully we will see you at the Lauderdale show.
JASSMAN, The only difference between a 3a and a 5 is the "X" dimension. My thought on the SONIC was it needed a deeper drive because of the weight. That's a cool looking NOR-TECH you got there. Robert |
