Rebuild Bravo Drive after so many Hours???
 

Does or has anyone rebuilt their drive before it actually explodes??? My drive is really going through some drive oil and I can't figure out from where? I know its on the inside no rainbows in the water I have 333 hours on this drive, is it possible some o-rings are bad??

I bought a brand new 2002 and it was losing oil somwhere :confused:. Couldn't see any leaks and no rainbow in the back. I finally tried tightening the upper and lower where they meet. Hasn't leaked since :cool:

If its not leaking in the water then it's a possibility that the front seal under your upper yoke is blown out or leaking (it would leak into your bellows then into bilge eventually). Max machine worx sells a billet seal retainer w/a lip that prevents this,Smitty

That sounds more like my problem, my bilge is full of oil and water. It is using oil in the amount of a full res in about 10 hours of run time.

if you have as many hours as you say you do on your bravo i would surely have it split and visully check it out. your driving style will have an affect on what you will see inside. have an expert check it for you, if they are good they will drain the drive of gearlube and pressure check the drive to see where your gearlube is going to, more than likely in the bellows. if you have it checked out it might save you from buying an upper or lower housing if the drive was to blow. cost a little now or a lot later. good luck with your bravos
