Ram Air/Forced Air Induction
Has anyone ever experimented with these types of systems on marine applications. I know sport bikes have been using them for years and Pontiac has it in their line of cars. I use to have a Suzuki GSXR750 carb and a friend of mine built a air induction system into and it increased horsepower.
Would it be beneficial to build a air scoop behind one of the engine vents and force it into the air filter? Just curious. Thanks, |
Re: Ram Air/Forced Air Induction
i have wondered that my self,i just finished a air box for my boat but unfortunetly i wont be able to find out how it works till next season 4 motors in 10 outings was enough for me for one season.the main reason for me building one was the therory of cooler air makes more power and at the same it works like ram air.i feel with a system like this you would need to add a little more fuel since you were getting more air.can any one help out on this therory

Re: Ram Air/Forced Air Induction
some supercat teams used it in the past. I am planning on making some sort of "ram air" for my boat after the engines are in.

Re: Ram Air/Forced Air Induction
On 525 merc's totally sealed air boxes with ram air , 2 + mph.

Re: Ram Air/Forced Air Induction
so how do you keep water from ramming down the motor? All you need to do is catch on wave wrong and you can kiss the motor goodbye. All the factory racers build un-sealed air boxes to bring cool air into the motor. That is good for a couple mph.

Re: Ram Air/Forced Air Induction
I know Velocity has been using aqua duct for many years, directing air to the carb and now EFI sytems. It definitely helps performance especially with supercharged engines.
