Stainless Marine has 'em. Ask Fred with Trick Marine. He's a dealer.

hey fred/too old, do you have the bottom mount water pick ups, not the ones that mount on the transom? and they are like a plate that is flush and looks like a naca duck used on nascar air intakes for the drivers? does this make sense to you, i think mti uses the same ones i am talking about?

Here is a picture of a pick-up from a MTI cat... you can see the lip extends beyond "flush"... It is NOT like a NACA duct....

Actually that lip you see is adjustable to control h2o pressure. It can be raised up to look just like a NACA Which I believe alot of race boats run them to reduce drag.

hey reed, if you look close, you can see that the intake starts in front of the intake pipe, just like a naca duct, and not just a pipe sticking down!

Nick-
Go to the Jaguar forum and look at the intake that I installed: Stainless Marine. This is similar to Skater's.
The pipe is extra long because hull thickness varies, but you trim the pipe. The entry into the pickup has about a 6" long "shaped-recess" ground into the hull, which leads into the pipe. The forward part of the pipe doesn't protrude: its sunk-in. The back of the pipe protrudes "maybe" 1/8": depends on the boat.

Re: skater style water pick ups?

I have this type of water intake on my Fountain along with the duct or scoop in the bottom. It is secured in the bildge in such a way that I cannot adjust it very easily and looks as though it has been in its current location for some time. I have had this boat for 1 summer and have trouble with pressure being low.

The tube does not protrude. The end of the tube is actually up in the intake hole of the scoop. Does anyone have a clear pic of thiers and had experience setting them up? I can't believe that the way it has been has worked for others and not me.
Thanks for any input.
Ken

Re: skater style water pick ups?

ken,the tube should be able to slide down a bit to increase pressure. if you can post a pic, the board should be able to help you!
