|
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
Good question, and I only have 1 engine.
I hope never, I enjoy the water, even if my boat is just drifting with the wind and tide. |
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
i figure i dont need electricty a phone or gas at my house in the summer so that helps out with the fuel buget. :D :D

Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
GAS is the cheapest part of owning a BOAT!!!!!!
|
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
Any time I'm pumping gas into the boat I'm smiling, cause that means it ain't broke and I'm going boating :D :D :D
I agree with Formulabill, when I spend more in a year for fuel than I have to pay for insurance for the Spectre then I'll begin to worry about fuel costs   Caleb |
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???

Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
With China, India, Japan, and the US putting increased strain on a gas supply infrastructure that is unstable at best, these price increases and fluctuations are here to stay. While modest increases might not keep me off the water, it could have an impact with the purchase of my next boat, opting for a single instead of a twin. I put a lot of hours on the boat each year and I don't have a bottomless wallet. If it ever hit $5.00, that would mean a $500 fill up @ 100 gallons. Doing that once a week or at best once every other week would definitely affect my boating lifestyle. I guess I'm not as fortunate as those posting above, but at prices close to or near double what it is now could put me out of boating, at least high performance. The good news is that nobody is predicting prices that high, but significantly higher than normal is not out of the question in the next few years. Bottom line...will it affect my boating lifestyle in some manner? Definitely YES.

Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
Gas what is that?? I just thought we had purchased a gas station this year. Even that might have been cheaper !! Never has stopped us before and won't now. It might change how we boat a little, shorter trips vs longer ones.
We do try to trailer the boat to an on land station but have definitely bought our share on the water too. Think about this: round number now 6 pack beer $5.00 = $.06 per ounce gallon gas $2.50 = $.01 per ounce Anyone going to quit drinking??? :drink: :drink: :drink: |

true :) well unless you own triple or quad powered boats that could get $$$ quick |
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
I've always said if you have to consider the cost of gas you can't afford a boat. I put 100 gallons in on Sunday and didn't even look at the pump price, although my wife told me it was $2.50. I just saveup some money during the winter and spend it during the summer.
I didn't buy much gas this year since it's taken me all summer to get the boat running right ... would rather have bought gas and got to go out more. -Greg |
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
On the boat I just started letting people pitch in on some gas money if we go very far.
Now my street car and race car ,The NOS [red]fuel has been 9.00 a gallon :( Diesel in my truck taking $50-60 for a tank every week that hurts because its not fun going to work every day :D I figure that maybe the problem, the price is going up and the demand is staying the same . People are not slowing down on fuel consumption. |

Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
I dont know it would have to be running to see if I can afford the gas!!!
|
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???

100 unleaded, only place I find in town to get any. |
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
I've never seen a Brinks truck or oil tanker following a Hearse...so I guess you can't take it with you. Might as well use it while I'm here :D
Made a 104 mile lunch run last wednesday...The captain(me) got a free lunch but coughed up $209. in gas. Some free lunch  I do have to admit though , this season has brought a little more "hang" time in the cove with more floatin' and less boatin'. My normal season is 1100/1200 miles and I think I'm just over half of that so far this year with only a few weeks left. |
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???

I am starting to get the race car out some .Figure I will put the boat up end of October and getting ready to pull the motors and go thru them. |
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
3.0 litre Merc is the only way to go..... too bad I would need 7 of them in my boat to get to 80 mph.
If gas prices are your biggest b*tch of the year, you had an AWESOME year boating. I will take that every year. |
Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
i am lazy and the thought of taking the boat of my lift get the truck and trailer to get gas and then put it back in would take the fun out of it. i have to run prem 91 or better so i pay 285-3.35 per gallon out here.
sunday we burned 210 gal at 2.85 pretty easy to round off 600- in fuel and 60- for lunch,, fun run out to the golden gate bridge and back actual running timeabout 2.5 -3 hrs incl idle time etc pretty much calculates out to $ 3.30 to 4.0 per minute.. can u drink 3-4 dollars worth of beer per minute,,,,???? its crazy when u calculate this chit,,, my accountant thinks i am a complete idiot. he asked me how in the world can u spend 1000-1500 per month in gas?? :D :D maybe i am but i sure am in GOOD COMPANY!!! I TOLD HIM WHEN U LAY THERE TAKING YOUR LAST BREATH ARE U GONNA SAY I WISH I WOULDA,, OR I'M GLAD I DID.... SO WORK HARD // PLAY HARD.. >>>>>but i do wish it was a little cheaper.. :D :drink: i better get back to work... :D |

Shoot, if you don't trailer you're not a complete boater. Otherwise you're considered a "hangar queen" if you're locked into a boatel. Or a coat hanger if you've got nothing but a lift. Or lonely when everyone else is trailering to the next poker run.
Like somebody said above. Gas is the cheapest part of boating. Put up, or pick another hobby... |

Hey Strip, hows it going. It is time for the motorcycle now. Nothing better in the Fall. Then the sled and it is back to boating. We run the 2 tracks in N MI and the UP. I just bought a DR Z400E Suzuki, I even have it plated.

Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
Not a "Complete boater" because I keep my boat in a Hi-Dri!!? Now I've heard it all

Re: poll- when will gas trailer queen YOU ???
How can you expound upon the virtues or calamities of the boating game without the experiences rendered from trailering, which is the first thing to come to the mind of a life long boater? I passionately believe in the ability to trailer the boat wherever and however, and to work on it in my own driveway, or fuel where I damned please for what price I please. My current boat I got without a trailer to find a cheap fixer-upper alternative to the overpriced new variety. Now I'm hating life and have missed a few great boating opportunites as a result. I'm in a boatel now (temporarily) and I've never felt so restricted EVER. I grew via the trailer, traveled with trailers, had tons of fun with the trailer, made many mistakes with the trailer and currently long for the freedom and journeys of the trailer. Yet I understand the many trials and tribulations of the trailer and it's loathings. But if you're really passionate about boating and the many places the trailer can lead you to, then how can you be a complete package without one? That's all. Otherwise do the same thing, from the same place, year after year, after year. Just the thought is making me sleepy.
BTW, there must be another Cobb Island, because there's one we can get to on the Atlantic side of the Eastern Shore of Virginia where it's isolated and Conch shells are abundant for the taking. |
