Glen Cove Hi-stakes Poker And Radar Run Results
Immediate Release: Glen Cove, New York
September 25, 2004
What a difference a week makes! After postponing the GLEN COVE HI-STAKES POKER AND RADAR RUN one week due to Storm IVAN, Long Island Sound was clear for hi-speed sailing on Saturday, September 25th. 39 Teams gathered at Steamboat Landing Restaurant and Bar and enjoyed the plentiful food and festivities put out by its owner, John Ferrara. With Miller Beer, Smirnoff Vodka, and Jose Cuervo Tequila on-board as lead sponsors, the parties had a little more “pop” than usual.
Ron Barrette and Chuck Bick in their new 40 Skater, “MAXED OUT” set the pace around the entire 75 mile course and were 1st to return to Hempstead Harbor for the Radar Run. A number of other teams couldn’t keep the same pace and erroneously overshot Bridgeport and drove to New Haven. ..some 20 miles north! WOW…some confused navigators on those boats. On target though was Vinny Rifice and “BAD” and Johhny O’Loughlin’s “ALL FIRED UP”. One of the most impressive boats of the day was John Scarola’s 27 Activator, “OUTLAW”, co-piloted by Ed LaGuardia, by running 4th to Bridgeport and 1st in the Single Engine Inboard Class at 98 MPH on radar. More contestants were impressed by Greig Lutz’s supercharged 35 Fountain running 93 mph and living all season!
Here are the WINNERS of the day:

Hey Billy,
Had a great time, i cant believe i ran THAT fast, its a little weak for us. We had a cross chop and I only did one pass. I was so thrilled about the way the boat ran to Bridgeport, that the radar shoot-out was not too important to me, beside when your running up against Vinny R. (color me bad) chances are your not beating Vinny unless the gremlins get him ! The man knows how to run that Cat....
By the way, we did open up a little can of whoop-ass on the way to Bridgeport
PS when is the Brunch run?
Thanks,
Ozzie

Oz -
Your boat looked great...it was good to see you again !
I want Lucky Tom riding with me next year...
I'm surprised that the "Wanted Racing " Kryptonite only hit 63 on radar ?
He ran with us years ago to Claudio's and he was definitely in the 80's...
Anyway, we'll be there next year for sure.

Thanks Oz-man...I appreciate the recognition....seems that you and I were at a different poker run than Billy. And to set the record straight for those not paying attention, Color Me Bad was the first boat to Bridgeport.

Hey Vinny,
How are ya? Thats right, I thought the run was to Bridgeport, not back to the Radar boat. I for one, took it easy on the way back. Oh well....

Hey Wes,
Good seeing you too, we HAVE TO get together soon. Why don't we set something up with a few of the boys?
