HP outdrive info

Hi, could someone post an overview on the ASD-6 / TRS / Bravo / Bravo XR / and Merc SSM #3 and up / Imco (and other aftermarket) drives? Some need trans units - are they all different? Which drives/trans are no longer made and what's best for durability on a 35/38' offshore deep v boat with 450-550 HP motors. I don't want to go nuts on price, but don't want to replace std bravos every year. I think I've ruled out TRS, ASD and #6, but open to suggestions. Thanks for any info.

I have had 3's and 3A's they are a great drives, they do need a tranny. They are good for around 800hp, they are great for boats in the range you are talking.Merc still makes 3A's.

Thanks, If I'm staying under 650HP are they worth it over a notrans Imco or Bravo XR? Konrads are also up there in price aren't they?

I believe in overkill and I am kind of anti bravo, had a few friend that have gone thru a lot of bravos. Good luck shopping, Steve.

"A complete Konrad drive package including a Huber 925 transmission is still a couple grand less than a Bravo XR drive/transom assy." - Biggus.

He owns these and KNOWS!
If you have questions about them, contact Biggus or Konrad themselves.
