Lightbulb Prop Puller for #5 Wanted

I would like to Purchase a Prop Puller to assist me pulling off my prop without damaging it! Any suggestions or comments? I have searched the net and found lots of pullers for Ski and yacht's. Nothing looks like it will work on mine.

Bryan-There was thread here a month or two ago. Most of the posts dealt with using a block of wood against the base of a blade or a brass rod against the hub. Ckeck it out. I just pulled the props on my #5's-no problem, but I do use anti-seize on the splines. Good Luck!

I'm with Lmarth on this one, I always use antiseize or grease on the prop shaft before installing the prop. Never had to use a puller.

Warm it up, just hot enough to feel hot - 160 deg or so, should not need a puller.

As your heating the prop hub strike the hub with a large nylon mallet. It will come loose.
Coat the splines with never seize in the future.
Good Luck

Thanks for the information Guys!

The Previous owner didn't take much care of the shaft!

I think he left the prop on for extended period after saltwater excursions!

I do use allot of marine grade antisize then I destroyed a new snap on mallet getting it off, Good thing is lift time warranty. I haven't tried the heating thing. I was worried about melting that plastic collar!

Now I know.

I plan to also replace the shaft here shortly!

Thanks again!

Bryan

Speaking of that plastic collar and the white plastic retaining ring, does anyone know where I can get replacements? Mercruiser didn't bother to respond to the message I left them. Many Thanks, Lou

Lmarth,
Matt at TNT, Gallen at SPEEDMASTERS, are the two that come to mind.

Many thanks for the advice, Robert. I'll probably start with Gallen as I've got some other SSM questions I'd like to ask him. I've never dealt with them, but my sense is that they're top notch. I respect your opinion. May I ask what fluid you're running in your Speed Masters? Lou
