I just got off the phone with Shanes wife Kristen and got the whole story .

Last evening shane was rushed to the hospital, When they preformed a catscan they noticed a tear in his aorta. They immediatly rushed him to Albany Med. With in 1 hour he was in surgery geting his arorta replaced. All seems well with the surgery aside from shane not being able to breath on his own. He is some what alert and can hear and move his toes and fingers. The doctors say that this is very very pleasing to see. They want to see him breathing on his own hopefuly today. They say that he is very angery and upset and his blood pressure rises when he begins to wake and dosen't know what exactly is going on. If you know Shane you would understand what he must be thinking . Kristen is on her way to the hospital to try and calm him down and hopefuly send him on a speedy recovery. The Doctors say the the fact that he can move his toes on command requires more brain function than to breath on your own. He just needs to relax and let his body recover from the shock. They say he has a 70% chance to live a some what normal life.

If I here any more updates I will will let you know.

Hang in there Shane

My thoughts are with him. He's a lucky man. You can bleed out in minutes (or less) with a torn aorta. Was this spontaneous? Most often an injury like that is the result of chest trauma.
