Re: Shane Mahieu In hospital Critical condition
So glad to hear some good news! Thanks, Paul.
Do you have an address/room number for him? We'd liek to send him something to speed up his recovery and keep him occupied while he's in the hospital.

I don't know Shane personally either, but I do wish him a speedy recovery. And might I add, that it sure does seem like I'm missing knowing a good guy, this many people couldn't be wrong...

Re: Shane Mahieu In hospital Critical condition
Hi Everyone,
It's Kristen, Shane's wife. I actually figured out how to log onto OSO as you all call it.
First I am so thankful to all of you for the thoughts and prayers for Shane. It has been wonderful and we both really appreciate it.
Lastest Update: Things are looking much better. Finally about 3pm yesterday he decided that he was gonna keep fighting and started breathing on his own. There were able to remove the intubation tube which increased his comfort level. They then had him sitting up and drinking some fluids. As of 7am this morning he had already been up walking twice. The surgeon was due in and hopefully they would be able to take the chest tube out sometime today and move him out of ICU. The good news is that his kidney levels have come down today which they are hoping means the kidneys are functioning ok and he has been able to answer many questions correctly which is good news as far as his brain functioning. They have not really been able to share much with me about his long term prognosis. They are hoping that if he continues to progress well he could come home on Sun or Mon. Then we are talking about 6-8 weeks at home before any type of activity. I am sure he will be doing lots of posting on OSO at that point.
Thanks again for all the thoughts, calls and prayers. I will do by best to keep you updated or have Hot Boat update you.
