Cigar Boats-what's in a name?
We've all heard people use the generalized term "Cigarette boat" or "Cigar boat" when referring to offshore performance boats. We all know that Cigarettes legacy have made them worthy of the name sake. But I have to say, especially in the is area, I hear more people refer to them as "Cigar boats" than "Cigarette boats". I'm pretty sure that at some point boats where built under the name "Cigar Boat". So are they worthy of the name sake?

Re: Cigar Boats-what's in a name?
I spoke with a guy (Don't remember his name  ) a few years ago. He was from Nightmare Racing Team. He said that he and a partner built a boat based on the 41 Apache Starchaser. They called it a Cigar. I belive that their boat was 42ft. It was a canopied race boat and said Cigar on its side.
Anyone else know of this? As an aside, he also said that they rebuilt the transom on the Apache because of rot. I didn't look any further into it as I didn't have enough cake to make a deal. |

Re: Cigar Boats-what's in a name?
Not sure if it has sold or not but I think Jack Clark at Jaguar had it for sale for awhile. The mold however has had the steps removed and regardless of what some may say is the exact dimensions of a 41 Apache except for the fact the strakes in the deck have been removed. Jack Clark is also the one who built the mold in about '99.

Re: Cigar Boats-what's in a name?
The guy I spoke with said that the boat hit a Manatee and ripped one of the drives off of the boat. At the time he said 50k would buy the boat less power/drives.
I looked for their old website, but it's gone. |
Re: Cigar Boats-what's in a name?
