I was looking at land and found this web site. Does anyone live around here ? Or do you know any bad things vs good things about the areas?

Mike is right, but it is an up and coming area. You can still buy waterfront property for a very reasonable cost. Quite a few people that work in the Sarasota/Ft. Myers areas are moving there because housing is so much more expensive elsewhere.

The good news: Many of those recycled beer cans are back at the recycler. Last Saturday, I went back up to the place I had been renting in Punta Gorda when Charley stopped by... (I'm in Ft Myers now)
Standing on my old dock, I counted... of the twenty houses that were closest to me, only three are still standing, and two of those are probly gonna go. They havent even touched the canals yet, and from my experience in the area right around my dock, there is a LOT of crap in the water and there are MILES of canals there.
The bad news: It all still looks fairly bleak-- ok, very bleak. There was/is so much wreckage it will be a while before the scars are gone. You might get a deal on property for a while, but what's the point if you get depressed driving to it? (I know I am a little prejudiced, sorry.)
attached pix show the view saturday morn aug 14th and the same view from the road last saturday- that white bldg in the center of the shot is 3 or 4 streets over...

I am pretty sure that I saw the boat in the first picture when we were driving form Cape Coral 2 weeks ago. Can you see it from 41/19 as you drive thru the area. We were low on diesel in the tow truck and there was not a station open, (still no elec.) for 20 miles thru the Port C. / Punta G. area on the Thursday before the Sarasota PRA run.

cap I think your best bang for you buck is in cape coral, and charly did minimal damage here. cape coral is much closer to things to do than north port or punta gorda, if you would like I will show you around and point you in the right direction as far as were to buy.

Michael, you didnt see that one! It's my HarborCraft, ALPHABET SOUP. Now, sadly, sitting on her trailer in the yard of broken dreams... awaiting salvage or salvation. There are several areas up there that dont have power back to this day.
Huge, I got to agree with ya about Cape Coral- from what I've seen, it seems like a cool place, I know I am liking Ft Myers so far, even though I wasnt exactly thinking about moving here until sometime after aug 13. These days, anywhere outside of the Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte area is almost like the storm never even happened.

My parents are building a home on the golf course at Heron Creek in North Port, and my friends parents have a place in Port Charlotte. Beautifull area, although I don't think there is a whole lot to do there. (I'm 40 and single) I would agree it is more for a older crowd. Although having a boat and being near the water, I'm sure you'll find something to do!!!!!!
