Anyone getting mail from a domain called outgun.com? I've gotten a couple emails about my Schiada and I started looking at the times they were being sent. Ran a domain check and it's an overseas deal. Just curious. Had a couple emails but no talk of checks or any of that yet, as usually happens with these scams. Last one was a guy from London, Europe according to his email. Mention wire transfer and watch them run away.

So, as I suspected I got this today:

How are you doing? My client was much impressed and he hopes that the
engine is serviced and oil changed too .He can't wait to see the
boat.However,my client made out a cashier's check of ($38,000)
before
he travelled to japan on a business trip, for a previous boat and its
shipment charges etc,but it was unfortunately sold. The amount on the
check he deposited for the boat is bigger than what should be paid to
you now, so the check is now meant for the total expenses which
includes the purchase of your boat, the pick up of the boat from its
present location and the shipping charges/other necessary shipping
arrangements. However he has instructed us to carry on with this
transaction. So you're required to deduct the cost of your boat
($30,000 )and send the balance of ($8,000) to my client via
western
union money transfer to enable him offset,
shippingcharges/arrangements.once the transaction is concluded,My
agent will be coming for the pick up of the boat from its present
location, on an open vehicle and then drive to a pre paid shipper for
shipment while title papers and other necessary document will be
handed to the agent at the time of pick up.

Please Confirm this and provide name, address and phone
number for check payment to be delivered to you via courier .
Have a nice day.

My response:

Sounds good. You can go ahead and sent me the check, however I'm going to hold on to it for a minimum of 45 days until it clears my bank. Hope you understand that it's nothing personal, but there just seem to be alot of scammers out there these days.

If that sounds agreeable, please respond and I'll send you my address. You can save all these problems by using a wire transfer if your client is in a hurry to get the boat.

Thanks,

Jordan

Figure I won't hear anymore from this guy, although he might try one more time before he gives up.

Enticer, the address is real, that much I am sure sure of. All I would say is be very, very careful. If 'Carol' has been in touch with a number of people about their boats and is apparently dealing for a 3rd party, it smells like a classic scam, but I could always be wrong, don't let the boat out of your sight unless you've got the money in your hand.

These guys are based around the corner: http://www.luminas.co.uk/products/
But this is odd (property next door):

You can check who owns the property here:

I got to hand it to the latest one, he has a far better grasp of the English language than most of them do. It's usually a chore even deciphering what the hell they are trying to get across.

Be very careful with these guys... The "cashier's checks are VERY authentic looking. I have seen some perfect forgeries. On the flip side, I sold my boat to a gentleman from Austria. He came over and checked it out.

I guess the bottom line is, if it feels wrong, it probably is.

Jordy,

I am with you, send the check but you have to wait until it clears.
Name, phone number and address is all available with a little research. Account numbers, now thats a different story.

Madmat,

You all in a buying spree now that the conversion is 1.85 to 1.
I wish it was the other way around, I would like to buy a cheap Jag.
