Is 38' a small boat..

Was just reviewing the line up in the Powerboat magazine the other day and it seems that more and more boat manufacturers are building bigger boats and dropping the smaller ones from production..

Just curious how big you can build an "offshore" boat before it becomes a cruiser or high performance yacht...

I can still fit four chicks on my 37' boat's sunpad. While it may be a bit tighter quarters, I think thats a little better because they are all a bit closer and kinda touching and stuff. :D  :drink:

Hmmmmm

Seems strange....with hardware like that on the back,
that none of the guys are even paying attention. :D :D

Is it the love seat thing?

Second from the right on the sunpad.

Is that a guy in a thong? That's just not right!

Maybe he is a Euro. The crew of a cruise ship we were on last winter were sporting the same thing. I was out on the deck enjoying a cigar when these three guys climbed out of the crew-only hot tub. Ruined the whole experience to see these dudes in the banana hammocks with their cheeks sticking out.

These are both CHEROKEE 60's. They have twin 1080's with arnesons. Fairly common today, but something like this for the late 80's, early 90's was unreal. There were a pair of these in Marbella Spain, where I worked, and when these bad boys were on the move it got everyone's attention.

I remember back in the early 80's,a 30 - 35 footer meant that you
had arrived. Now at that size you just get lost in the crowd.

of course, there's always the Cherokee 80. IMO one of the best looking and performing offshore wave crushers of all time... 60 mph with twin 16V92 Detroits (1450hp.) or 70 mph with twin 16V2000 MTUs (2000hp.)

38' Offshore's are only small for the people not paying the bills.

Actually same goes for horsepower, drives and running in 6' waves.

I can imagine so. Back when I was in first in Spain, the Cherokee 80 was on the design table. I have never seen one in person, but it looks as the 60's lines are continued in the 80. I ran along with a Cherokee 60 going to Morroco from Spain and I was in a 40 Magnum. You could really appreciate these two designs while going through the 10 to 12's that we encountered in the Strights of Gibraltar.

Minx20, there's no secret. Clean lines and no BS and 15 years on, the 60 looks better than 90% of new designs. Infact, the 60 was very lightly redesigned and reintroduced as 61 Speed. And changes required to bring that design up to date were very, very minor...
