Ike...deserts the tribe! Should be a fun project with some history! I hear Spyder ordered in some kits for some 700 cu motors....must be for you. Get it together for next season!

Ike
My son thinks that we have that poster somewhere in our storage trailers. Also have some photos from that era buried somewhere, I'll try to dig them out for you.
My favorite memory of that boat was the Bacardi race in '79. Coming back from Bimini, Joey was ahead of me as we made the turn in Lauderdale and headed back for Miami. The turn boat was about 1/2 mile offshore, so Joey turns and heads straight back toward Miami. I turn and head straight in to the beach. The water was so much calmer in there, I ran as close as I could and sometimes was inside the swimmers. Anyway, I finished third behind Betty and Billy Martin which left me tied for the Championship points with Betty.
Joey comes up after the race and says that he never saw me pass him, where the hell was I? The following year at the drivers meeting there was a big rule made that no one was allowed to run on the beach and endanger the tourists. Hey it was racing, what do they want from us?

These are from the NJPPC web site.
I'm gonna have to ask my bro to dig through the old box of pics to see if we have anything from the Long Islands racing days.

Post #17 shows the number 3 boat as the same one you are restoring Ike. The boat below with Betty Cook is a different boat, although it is still a Larry Smith Scarab. It is the old KAAMA that Betty repainted when she accepted sponsorship from Bernie Little, also pictured in the ad.
The above photo shows both Bobby Moore and Jack Stuteville on either side of Joey Ippolitto.
Great stuff, thanks for the memories.
