Keeping the Avalanche... cheap and clean Duramax/Allison...

I decided to keep my Avalanche for a while. With the prices of diesel the way they are, and the just slightly bigger truck I was going to get with a 2500HD, I opted to stick with what I have for as little as I drive the truck. (I'll wait for a dually one day.)

However, the truck I was keeping in my pocket is still for sale to the masses. Its in the OSO Classifieds.

2002 Black 2500HD Crew.SB D/A for less than $30K.

Good man Sydwayz!!!!

The Avalanche 2500 rides better than a 2500HD IMHO anyway.

I love my Avalanche 2500 and won't trade it in.

I just can't justify the cash outflow. I have too many other things on my plate right now. I may do a few things to the Avalanche for s&g, but for now, I am keeping it.

Troutly, I just don't forsee marriage anytime soon, so stop begging me for a ride in the sideXside bolsters of the AT. You can have a ride, but only in the backseat. Your wife will be up front with me as usual.
 :drink:

I'm in Atlantic City at the moment, and may come home with a gold chain for the heck of it. :D :D I'll be in Europe for two weeks next month too; oh the possibilities.

Sydwayz,

What kind of gas mileage are you getting with the 2500, I am looking at one with the 3.73 axle ratio. I test drove a 1500 and loved it. The dealer didn't have any 2500's so i am assuming they ride similar. It's to bad the 1500 doesn't pull more.

Thanks,

derekdeben,
Stock configuration witht he 4.10 rear end, I was getting around 11-12mpg driving very conservatively daily driving. Drive home from FL to VA when I picked it up was right about 14mpg ALL highway.

I have airbags on the rear of mine, and the front torsion bars cranked up slightly, so mine rides like a truck, but a nice truck. The 2500 has leaf spring rear suspension, which is more capable for the towing capacity. The 1500 has coil spring suspension in the rear, which is your biggest towing limiter, and what makes it ride a lot nicer. If you keep your 2500 in stock configuration, it still rides very nice, but you can tell a difference between them. (My brother-in-law has a 2003 1500 so I get to compare on a regular basis.) I get about 10-11mpg daily driving my 2500/4.10 with a few mods, (hence why I have a commuter car).
I get somewhere around 6-8mpg towing.

You should see 12mpg daily driving with a 2500/3.73. Send a PM to Love Machine here on OSO. He has a 2002 2500 w/ 3.73 gears.

Troutly,
Good one. :D I let this go before it gets rough though. :D :drink: Hope to see you two in Miami this February.
