fountain 333,
Isn't there a guy by the name of Larry Peto or something like that out by Havasu? I've seen his name a few times in some of the boating magazines. Plus, I think it was a few years ago that I saw a write-up/story with pictures about him and his shop in HOT BOAT Magazine. I can't remember the name of his shop/business, but it looked as if he can build just about anything from mild to wild with marine engines. I don't really know what kind of reputation he has, but he seemed to be knowledgable. You might ask around for his shop name and number. Perhaps someone will see this and chime in here. Hope that helps a bit.

Heard great things about Jeff Blosdale
They are right down the street from Advantage boats.

Give Ron Gibbs a call. He does all the work on my friends 30 Spectre and is very happy with his work. His shop is located in Parker, AZ.

I have larry Peto (Larry's Engine and Marine) motors in my F-29. They are 580 ci and 650hp. very mild and very reliable.
Although I didn't order the boat new, I spoke with Larry regarding the motors and he seemed very personable, honest and knowledgable.
The boat has 150 hours on it with no problems and excellent compression and leakdown.
I don't know much about any other motors he has built, bet mine seem to be fantastic so far.
Here is a pic (also look in Powerboat or Hotboat magazine-spring '03)

I would highly recommend either of these shops.
Phoenix / Tucson (worth the drive)
www.larrysengine.com
Lake Havasu City
www.savagemarine.com
Both companies have good reps for taking care of their customers. However, please remember you need to be an educated customer and get it in writting.
The other two shops - you get what you pay for.

Stay away from Beck Racing Engines, aka BRE aka Broken Rebuilt Engines at all costs. Currently they're being sued by a few people, not to mention they moved out of their shop in North Phoenix and Frank is building engines out of his garage on the West side of town. Never heard a good story about BRE.
I'd look at Blosdale (he originally built the engine that's in my Schiada) or take a trip to Tucson and see Larry Peto. Larry would probably be my first choice overall. Never heard a bad word uttered about Peto.

Have you tried Billet Marine in Phoenix. I know they've taken care of some of the APBA boats. www.billetmarine.com
In Havasu I would have to say Savage Marine is the biggest name. He did a nice job w/that 41' Apache he owns too
However, I do have to give props to Jennifer and Rick Lemmon who just opened Liberty Performance Marine in Havasu this summer. Super cool people and worth a shot to call 'em up and see what they have to say. They'll give you a straight answer for sure. address: 1555 Countryshire, Lake Havasu City
