23' Warlock floor

Looked at a 23' Warlock the other day for a friend who is thinking about buying it, the hullsides and bottom were VERY solid but when I got in the cockpit, the floor had "give" to it as though it had way too much padding. I jumped up and down and couldn't hear any cracking but the floor would compress and then come back up. Could this be the encapsulated wood is rotten? Should he stay away from the boat? Is a floor job a big job, $$?....thanks: Matt

Last I knew Warlocks did have wood interiors, and yes, several have had squishy floors. All it takes is one bad storm with the cover leaking and its done.

Re: 23' Warlock floor

I did a floor this summer (Not in a Warlock.) I guess whether or not it's a "Big" job would depend on your definition of big, but it certainly isn't fun.
What I'd be more scared of is what might be found once the floor is cut out. The job could easily grow at that point.
This is exactly the reason I will never again buy a boat with a wood floor & glued in carpet. Boats simply shouldn't be built like that.

If the boat was a 23' WPM they have a fiberglass insert for a floor. Very solid boat. I had a 1997 with 900 HP and never had so much as a screw come loose.

They were built by Tom Stalarz out of Corona...
