What a mess!

Fighters have been flying over all day. Apache helicopters and the works.I'm working in Baiji about an hour away. We have put more barricades up and tightened up security at the powerlant. Glad I'll be home in 11 days.

The airport is closed, hope I don't get stuck here.

Shawn, you're over there at a tricky time. Hope you're able to get out on schedule. My old man is in Baghdad, and supposed to be home for a break arriving in Newark on Thursday night. I'm hoping both of you get out safely, on time.

Yes,, the ASS kickins' are commencing,, but door to door search is hard. Their planting bombs in the peoples houses for the door to door search.and walking down the streets you dont know where they planted a car bombs.


Its scary as hell! We found 3 Sam missiles less than a 1/4 mile away from our camp but one of our security teams in the area. Man its unreal here. They have declared marshall law by the government. The Iraq's are getting pissed that their own people are killing them in their own country. We have lost some men ,, but nothing like they have lost.

The insurgents stormed a police station less than 10 miles from us with between 100 to 160 men. Its scary they have gotten that many people together at one time to fight. We were hoping they would stay un orginized. I just want out of here.

DaveP,

The route home is via the Baghdad airport. From there to Amman and then Amsterdam. Then Houston.They airport had a suicide bomber crash into the first check point there and blow up. They have it cleared but have closed the airport for the next 48 to 72 hours.

I might have to fly an alternate route through Mosul. We'll see. I'll keep you guys posted.
