Lake Havasu Questions
 

I am considering taking my boat down to lake havasu for spring break. I have never been there before but have heard it is a blast during spring break. I have been doing a little research but the few marinas I have called do not have shorepower or freshwater and do not allow you to spend the night in the marina. This is not a huge deal but I sure would like to plug in and refill the water tanks and charge the batteries up a couple nights during the week and also have a retreat if the weather turns south. Can anyone make any suggestions in this department or any other advice before heading down there? Thanks in advance!~

call the nautical Inn or the London bridge resort. The London bridge has a dock or you can beach your boat at the Nautical Inn. they are both great places, but call NOW!! They get booked up early. The website links are below to contact them.

leaving the boat in the water overnight is atypical at havasu unless you are staying at one of the "resorts" that have slips. the lake havasu marina is a performance boaters nightmare (very unfriendly management). unfortunatly it is one of the few protected marinas on the lake.

there are a very few choices.
if you stay at the london bridge resort, they have a limited number of slips for their guests (no shore power or water).
if staying at the nautical inn, you can moor the boat outside your hotel room. no slips
there is an rv park on the island call the Islander (go figure) that has a protected cove (and private launch ramp) with slips for their guests. you can rent a one or two bedroom "park model" (manufactured home) and leave your boat in a slip. if heavy partying is on your agenda, the islander is not your place. the islander is my home "port".
if you are staying at any of the other motels in town, you are trailering every night.

Havasu is a blast. The local places will jack up the prices during spring break, last year we paid over $200/night. Laughlin is not too far away and the casinos are cheap during the week.

Screw LHC Marina. If your boat is over 30', no launch. if they think your boat is loud, no launch and will not return your launch fee, and if you argue with them they ban you for life from their Marina. Hot Boat has a huge thread on this. There are several law suits pending on this issue.

What boat are you thinking of bringing and what dates? Spring break goes from late March to late April there.

Sounds like I will just prepare to stay on the boat for the week. Not a real big deal. Now don't laugh at me but it is my parents (and mine) 26' Bayliner, but it will be comfortable to live on for the week. I grew up on boats on Lake Michigan then moved to Colorado. I boat every weekend and I have worked for a boat dealer for 6 years. As soon as I graduate from college I will be buying an offshore powerboat to live on while I pay off the student loans :D I have had a fetish for them for as long as I can remember and use this site to keep me calmed down.

If anyone wants to meet up while down there that would be sweet. The plan is to be down there the 18th through the 27th. I called the city info line down there and the lady said they plan to be the busiest that week. She said that the majority of the colleges have that week off mine included.

Dude, the cool thing about Havasu is that weather you're running a 16' flatty, a cuddy, an old school Campbell a 38 Cig, a 46 Skater or don't have a boat at all theres one thing in commen that brings everyone together out there.....They're all there to party and have fun, which you will!! We should be out there in mid to late April (around the poker run if it's on again....?)

You might try Havasu Landing Resort, they have overnight mooring, not sure if they allow you to stay on the boat, they are on the California side of the lake, also have a casino.

Why not? They do it with the houseboats.

I vote for Nautical Inn. They have always treated me like they are in business to serve customers. But the Captain's Table restaurant is kind of lame.

If you can get away in late Feb., it's a great time to go and the prices are low.
Not as much "action" as mid March, but it's usually warm enough to really enjoy the "lake."
