Actually, the correct spelling is "profil marine" and in Europe they're known under the name "cherokee" so do a search for "profil marine cherokee 50". Something will come up, there are always a couple for sale in Europe... Apart from that, what is there to know? It's a solidly built boat, from beginning of 80s to early 90s, 50' in length, just over 14' wide and usually powered by Detroits, either 8V71s or 8V92s. Either way, it's on conventional shaft drives and they will do between 30 and 35 knots max. They have nice big cockpits with plenty of seating for lounging around and do not look bad at all for their age (without the radar arch). Refitted and with few add-ons to modernize the whole package like the added bathing platform to carry a jet-ski and a hydraulic gangway, they are worth little over 100K so I am not sure whether it's actually worth investing in one that has had a drink of salt water. Unless you intend to keep her because they are very pleasant, no-nonsense boats... But be ready for large fuel bills because 2-stroke DDs do have quite an appetite...

My family has a Cherokee 50' we updated the 8v92's in 1994 to water-cooler turbos and a few other tricks. Great boat very comfortable. The boats cruises comfortably at 36-38mph and tops out at about 46mph. Not bad for a big heavy boat. Great for entertaining and travel.

Here is the same Profile Marine 50 in the July 04 Boattrader before it sunk. By the way it sold for $15099. Will take serious bread to restore.

If the owner had decent insurance... then Hurricane Frances was his savior........ I can't imagine paying 50 bucks for the thing if it was submerged and in the condition as described in the ad... Good luck Blanc954.. you're going to need it. I love the description.... " Hull damage minimal"... "Shaft struts pushed through hull"... oh yeah... that sounds good.........
