I cant imagine the demand for a 28 Skater to go down when the 30 comes out. It is such an amazing ride for a 28ft boat that a lot of people will never overlook. My .02$ is Skater, no question.

I had a 28’ with (2) 300 promax’s, a very different boat. The 28 is much faster, acceleration, top speed , etc. The 32’ is not only 4’ bigger, but also the tunnel is much higher, and the extra height in the tunnel is what gives the 32’ an advantage in the rougher water, the extra 4 feet makes it span better. The 28’ is a real blast, with 300x’s and the right set up, high one teens, to 120 is possible. A few in long island are into the mid 120’s . Charlie is doing that with a couple of Diamond 2.5’s . Our 32’ is a 1998, and was never a triple boat, always a twin-engine boat. The acceleration is Ok, the boat with 14.5x32’ 3 blade Lab Cleavers will run into the low 100’s ,, 101 or 102,, spinning the props “OUT” at 6,300 or so. I never saw a speed increase spinning the props “IN”… Joey Imp. is getting 105 or 106 out of a 32’ with different props.

As far as the new 30' making the 28' less popular? I don't think so,, used 28's that are 4 or 5 years old can be bought in the 70-80 range,, there won't be any 4 or 5 year old 30's for at least,, let me see,, Hmmmmm 4 or 5 years, and as far as new,, I think the new 30' with (2) X's will what??? $150- 160?? I am not sure.

Stecz buy the damn snowmobile already and come riding. As far as the Skater, I am in the same dilemma. I want a Skater, I am not an outboard guy, and short on the cabbage and don't want to finance so waiting is my only option. Insurance is aggravating, but the fun factor is real good.

The problem is, its really not up to him. He has to clear it with the head of the household.

Ken, didnt you have a Spectre? I think we met once or twice at the Waters Edge.
Have you ever riden in a 28 Skater?
Id like to get some feedback from previous owners that have been in both boats.

Chris two things. I was hoping Stecz would buy a sled so we can come up to New Hampshire and you can show us the trails. We rode in Vermont a lot, but never in New Hampshire. As far as the 2 cats, I would hold off and buy a 32 Skater with hp 500s and six's. The 28 is a very small boat and the bravos will never hold together. Philip who has a lot of wheel time will acknowledge that the 32 rides much better even though you sacrifice the speed. The outboards are also not bullet proof. I have seen many failures among numerous friends. When they grenade it can be real expensive. I spoke to Rik Whimp from Arneson who is also a platora of information, and he has a customer putting together a new 30 with good power and ASD 6s which should be a rocket. Lets get together and do some riding this winter. Ken

I have ridden in all three boats and owned and own a 30 spectre 04' with 2.5's.

The 28 skater is a very fast boat but not a boat for 2-3 ft seas. In open water the skater is too small. If you boat inland or on a lake the skater is the boat for you!

The AMT is a great race boat but the pleasure boat is not as nice as the spectre.

My second 30ft spectre 04' is an awesome all around boat. The finish work, paint job etc is awesome. My boat runs with two on board 100-102 with 1/2 tanks. Light on fuel 106. The set up is from the factory and I am certain that more is in the boat with some additional work. With the 2.5's the boat can be proped right to out accelerate the 300x. first guy to 100 wins the race.

I spoke to chris and peter about the 30 skater and am certain that it will be a great boat. Unfortunately your looking at twice the money of a spectre.

I love the outboards 2.5's and have ran them for the last 4 years over 500hrs. Your fuel economy, maintenance and speeds make the boat a very economical 100plus offshore experience.
