IMP BOATS anybody know anything
I have a friend looking at an IMP 31 ft. twin 454's. Anybody have any info on these boats?

Re: IMP BOATS anybody know anything
I'm not sure but I think IMP is out of business. Not bad looking boats but I don't think resale is very good. I'm not familiar with build quality.

Re: IMP BOATS anybody know anything
Deez Pleez has a 255 eleganza, thing rocks, they are the older Magnum hulls.
with a massaged 454 and good heads, he is seeing about 60-62 out of it, standard bravo drive. Nothing face peeling but hey for the price, you cant beat it. that boat takes some major abuse and the extreme V in the front allows it to just about knife through anything in front of it. Very dry ride, thick glass on it, gives it some weight. Overall decent boat, attention to details are not extordinary but its all good. if you can pick it up cheap (which most of them you can) its a good entry level boat that will take the abuse. J |

:drink: :drink: Back in the days 79. Dad had a IMP it was back when they put the Chrysler's 360 motor or 383? straight inboard with arneson v drive ,the boat was solid as a rock, great hull deep v on this one. not a bad boat 55 max speed, had transom exhaust and The Conservation Comm. used these boats ,I know this really is not the answer to your questions, but Just had a Flash Back! :D

Re: IMP BOATS anybody know anything
Dennis,
I have a friend locally that has had a 31 with 454 Magnums / Bravo's that he's owned for what seems like forever. He likes it, and doesnt plan on doing any changes to it. Supposedly runs just under / right at 70 with that power. I can hook him up with you or your friend so that they could talk if that would help, I know he wouldnt have a problem with that. That said, Powerboat magazine never gave them good reviews ( the 31's ), as I recall. Workmanship was fair to below average and there was something to do with the way they rode / drove. Have your friend access some of their archives. - Jamie |
Re: IMP BOATS anybody know anything
The 310 Eleganza was a great boat for the money. Finish work was ok only and for around $80,000 you had a pretty nice package with big blocks. There were lots flying around Freeport in the late 80's.

Re: IMP BOATS anybody know anything

Re: IMP BOATS anybody know anything
Expresscat39,
I know of a 1992 31' IMP located here in Missouri that the owner has been contemplating selling. A very clean boat with lots of updates. The boat is all white and has 454's w/ bravos, let me know if it would be of interest to your friend and I will be sure to get you all the details... Regards, Tony 314-581-3532 |

Alot of boat for the money......the last owner's name was Brice something .

Imp 31
I have a friend here in NY Long island, Just painted, needs some extensive work, engines out and at rebuild shop. has trs drives with external steering, pretty fast. he would sell as is or rigged. pretty good looking boat.. but does need some work to get ready,
all red hull and deck |
31 Imp
My friend had the light blue 31 IMP (Shakey Jaw) on Oneida Lake in upstate NY. The hull was a splash of one of Aronows hulls with a straight 24 degree vee. No gimmicks. The boat handles rough water extremely well and rode like a Cadillac. He bought his new with twin 330hp/Bravo 1 but later upgraded the engines to roughly 500hp each and got 75mph. As mentined before fit and finish was OK and his had the Mcleod bolsters and interior which was nice.

Just put a pair of 496Hos in a 31ft IMP, runs about 72-73,also put 280s planes on it too.Customer is happy.

so there are some other imp owners out there. I am very happy with mine, it has the 330 454s and runs 65-67 gps. Mcleod interior, plenty of room up front and looks good. Not many of them around where I boat so its something different. I also saved some money compared to other same size, powered boats. A few upgrades are in the works and Ill prove that jesse james comment about hitting a wall at 70mph is a bunch of crap.  I know about his history but Ill just prove it again what is already known about him.

A buddy has a 1989 to (or) 1990 Red IMP 31 with 502 / 450hp Motors. It's a Tank that crushes water! With 454/330hp's I dont think that boat would do over 64gps seeing Scotty's only does 70/71gps. It's built like a brick chit house! and has a very nice cabin layout.. |

hi rick I dont doubt you about your friends imp but you say his is an 89 or 90. mine is a 96 and I have the original sales brochure(original owner left all sales stuff in the boat) and is at 7400 lbs dry weight. It has 127 gal gas and 12 gal fresh water. compare the weight to similar hulls and horsepower and you see it is right in there where it should. there is also other oso members that I boat with that will back me up with the speed I get. there are too many people with alot more knowledge than I will ever dream to have about boating on this site why would I try to B.S. about speed. Can do that at the local bar but not here on oso:drink:
I never thought you were B.S. ing' I figured the older models were much heavier than the newer ones, I never really seen what year he was asking for I was just poeting the numbers on the older ones seeing thats all I have info on. Its all good..:D |

I know someone who had a 32 with 454/330's. Good lake boat, not very good on the ocean.
It's a decent entry level boat. My Scarab Panther ran better in rough water. |
