Default Recommendations for next boat (under $50K)

Hi,

Last spring I bought a 1989 Formula 242LS with a 454 magnum. I wanted a starter fast boat to get my feet wet and to see if the wife likes going fast. I plan to sell the boat in the spring (didn't get much interest trying to sell in October). Now I would like something big enough to spend the weekend on and the cuddy in the 242 just will not cut it.

We are trying to decide between a bigger boat 30-35 with twin BBC or a 30-34 Sea Ray (or similar) cruiser. Here's what I would be interested in if we go the fast boat route:

30-35
twin 454 or 502s
bravo drives
A/C, sink, fridge, generator a big plus
generator
bolsters
65mph top speed, 50mph cruise
less than $50K

I like Formulas but haven't seen anything in my price range or size range with AC. I really like the Formula 370SS with twin 496s, but I think those are like $225K...

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Chuck

Formula Sun Sports and Super Sports will be well out of that price range as they are still too new to the market.
Good suggestions. Late 80s to mid 90s is fine, I'm ok with an older boat, let the other guy take the depreciation.

You need to come off a little more $$ and buy BruceK's boat... 88 40 fountain with bullet proof 3a's and monster 900hp blower motors. New interior, massive cabin and the damn thing goes almot 100mph!!!!

You and I both know that this becomes a slippery slope. Before long I'll talk my self into a $150K loan over 20 years....

No, not really.... Bruce is my throttleman and I have been on this boat a few times and I was very impressed. Real big and real fast. He is a nut about his equipment and this boat has been gone through from front to back. I bet if you called him he would work you a screaming deal. You would be stunned by the performance.

I think a Formula 330SS is a good fit, also Searay used to make a 31SS that was a nice cruiser. Another nice on is a 30' Sunseeker if you could find one over here.
