Just had one of my XRs gone through - found race on top cap cracked and - pitting on the gears! Well maintained XRs was told that pitting is the beginning of failure. 250 hours.

If you got 250 hrs out of a XR you are damn lucky in my book! You should go buy a few lotto tickets...I check mine every 40 hrs no matter what.

Alot of hp for a Bravo based drive, I personally have ran 1100 hp in front of my Bravo XR upgraded drive, has cry iso rem'd gears, billet 300 m shafts, all max machine works upgrades. When I run a 30 pitch labbed with my 1050 hp pulleys I have gotten 40-50 hours between breaking things/replacing things, when I run the 1100 hp pulley and a 32 pitch I usually break something in 10-15 hours but My boats a V-hull, not a Cat. When I tried a 5 blade I almost instantly sheared off a Max worx billet 300 m prop shaft, have broken several of there billet vertical shafts. Its only a 27 vee so it doesn't get ran at much boost in anything over a true 2 footer either, I can imagine IF you could actually go fast in rough water it would almost break instantly. I go thru drive about every 30 hours if it hasn't broke yet and inspect all the parts, have caught many parts ready to fail also, fwiw
