Hey no problem. I guess sometimes I sound negative about issues but I've been around long enough to know a little about high performance boating / racing. I would also be very careful with 1/4 canopied (plexiglass) boats too. I witnessed a guy get his legs severed when they broke during a roll over , not a pretty sight. Rule for safety, run a full center pod canopy with a 5 pt harness or nothing at all to obstruct you if you should have to exit the boat without warning - BH

Understood, I've been around a while too.
I'll have to deal with the canopy though: must have the wind protection for my face because of too many years of windburn already. The good news is that the front windscreen, side windows are from a jet: multi-layer Lexan about 1" thick.

Hope like heck that I never have to test them with any part of my body!

i think he is just looking at the poker run lap belts and not the full harnesses....just something to keep ya in your seat.

Are these still the best solution to keep pasengers in there seats?

Velcro shorts and bikini bottoms will keep you in the seat.

Anyone know the safety issues of being belted into a boat that doesn't have a canopy?

So what is the best solution to keep the passengers safely in the rear seat?

I put these on the rear bench of my pantera.
I cut the metal plates off the ends, and had industrial velcro(loop side) sewn on the ends, and put the hook side on the bench, under the seat padding. Seat padding was removable w/ a hatch/storage underneath.
The kids(4-6yrs) wore them to stop them from getting up and moving around while underway.
I thought about the flipping. I thought the odds of the kids getting up and crawling onto the engine hatch were much greater than me flipping, at least while they were aboard.
