a freund of mine builds some of the interiors for Skater
He has a Skater of his own and has built the seats so you have to sort of tuck your self in they kind of snap your body in the seat
He also put handle straps under the seats that you can hold on to if you still feel a bit nervous
these seats hold you in GREAT
I agree with the scarry factor here
I have used the velcro in a friends boat (50 Nor Tech) in the back seat I must say i felt better about not flying out since we were running in some rough stuff but was scared to death if we went over i would still be stuck in the boat
The new designed seat is the way to go

Dont go faster then the weakest link in the boat can hold on, or leave them at the dock. Full canopies are the safest, when wearing the appropriate 5 point harness. Canopies have to be carfeully engineered and insalled though, otherwise the seam can crack and break under pressure and rip the polycarp away and drown/crush the occupants. So dont just go buy some glass and cover your cockpit. An open boat has the same principles as a motorcycle, better to be thrown away from the accident then caught under it.

How do they work for different sized people? Since the size of your passengers can vary greatly.

Like I said these are lap belts that are VELCRO. Not 5 or 6 point harnesses with metal clasps. I would say no way to a harness in an open canopy boat. However, to give passengers a feeling of security i would think these would work. I can't imagine velcro is going to hold someone in place during a rollover.
Not saying I am right or wrong just throwing my thoughts out there.

i wouldn't be going very fast w/ my kids in the boat either.
but it doesn't take much for a tragedy to happen.
I had to weigh in my pros/cons.
Odds my kid would jump out while i'm not looking vs a rollover: 100:1. easy!

So it seems like everyone has an opinon on this topic which is great, this is why I like OSO.
So the question I am going to ask is if you had an open cockpit boat that you would like to make sure the three passengers in the rear seat are more sucure what would you use (new rear seats are not an option) ?

No didn't have this problem in the 382. The 382 is a tank and it is a much different boat than the motion. The motion is less than half the weight and likes to fly over the top, where the 382 goes through most everything. Also the 382's rear seat is much deeper than the motion so if you came off the seat at all you were not worried.
